Why a nurse coach

Not all health coaches are created equal.

Anyone can call themselves a health coach. There's no license required, no board exam, no degree in health sciences. That's not a knock on health coaches — it just means their scope is limited by design.

I'm a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with graduate-level clinical training. When we work together, you're not just getting encouragement and accountability — you're getting a clinician who understands your labs, your medications, and your whole medical picture.

Chronic disease support you can trust

Thousands of clinical training hours and board certification behind every conversation. We navigate conditions like diabetes and metabolic syndrome with real clinical understanding — not a certificate-course crash course.

I can actually read your labs

As a licensed, board-certified nurse practitioner, I interpret your lab values myself, in context, as part of our work together.

I can talk medications and treatment plans

I'm able to offer suggestions, advice, and opinions on your treatment plan and medications — something health coaches are not licensed to do.

Every recommendation is evidence-based

From mental health to physical health, everything we build together is rooted in current, evidence-based literature.

I treat the whole person

Mind, body, and spirit. Your wellness goals are built around all of you, not just a number on a chart.

Coaching or advocacy

How is this different from advocacy services?

The two solve different problems.

Advocacy & Navigation

For a healthcare problem

For patients who feel overwhelmed and lost inside the healthcare system. It's for you if:

  • You're juggling multiple specialists and facilities and need someone making sure everyone's on the same page
  • You're on several medications and want one person watching for interactions, duplications, and side effects
  • You're stuck fighting an insurance claim or denial
  • You need help getting a referral, a second opinion, or a virtual advocate in the room with you for an important appointment

Integrative Nurse Health Coaching

For your long-term plan

For your overall health — ongoing, proactive, whole-body care. We meet weekly to:

  • Set and revisit your wellness goals
  • Talk through the week's wins, losses, and barriers
  • Review new labs, medications, and symptoms together
  • Keep preventive care for your whole body front and center
Think of advocacy as solving a healthcare problem — and coaching as building your long-term healthcare plan.
Combining services

Can I have both? Absolutely.

Advocacy and coaching aren't competing services — they solve different problems, and for a lot of people that means they work best side by side.

Advocacy is the crisis response Someone in your corner when the healthcare system feels tangled, urgent, or overwhelming.
Coaching is the foundation The steady, week-to-week relationship that keeps your whole-body health moving forward once things are stable.

A lot of my clients start with one and add the other once they see the gap it fills. If you're midway through a complicated diagnosis, juggling three specialists, and you also want someone thinking about your long-term wellness, you don't have to choose — I already know your history, your labs, and your medications. Combining services means less repeating yourself and more continuity of care.

What you get

Benefits of working with a nurse health coach.

01

A truly personalized plan

Every session is grounded in your labs, your history, and your goals — not a one-size-fits-all worksheet. Because I can interpret your bloodwork and understand your medication list, your plan is built on your real clinical picture.

02

Decreased stress

No more piecing together advice from five sources and wondering what applies to you. One consistent relationship with an FNP who already knows your history — bring new symptoms, labs, or a confusing doctor's note and get a straight answer.

03

Increased self-awareness

Weekly check-ins aren't just accountability calls — they're a standing space to notice your own patterns. What triggers flare-ups, what actually works. Over time you see your health clearly instead of feeling like it's happening to you.

04

Longevity through prevention

Most healthcare is reactive — you show up once something's wrong. Coaching flips that. We watch your labs, metabolic markers, and whole-body trends so small issues get caught long before they become big ones.

05

Clinical credibility

When I say something's evidence-based, it's because I have the training to know the difference between solid research and wellness-trend noise. Not a health coach's best guess — a clinician's informed opinion, every time.

06

Continuity across your whole picture

Because I can review labs, discuss medications, and understand treatment plans, nothing gets lost in translation between your specialists and your day-to-day wellness. I'm not just cheering you on — I'm tracking whether your body is actually improving.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about nurse health coaching.

What's the difference between a health coach and a nurse coach?

A health coach doesn't need any health-related degree or license — anyone can complete a certificate course and start coaching. A nurse coach is a licensed clinician, in my case a board-certified FNP, who brings graduate-level clinical training into the coaching relationship, including the ability to interpret labs and speak knowledgeably about medications and treatment plans.

Can a health coach give medical advice?

No. Health coaches are not licensed providers and cannot give medical advice, diagnose, or weigh in on medications. As a board-certified FNP, I can offer suggestions, advice, and opinions on your treatment plan and medications as part of our coaching work.

Do I need a referral or diagnosis to start coaching?

No referral needed. Coaching is open to anyone in Kentucky looking for proactive, whole-body support — whether you're managing a diagnosed chronic condition or simply want a more personalized, preventive approach to your health.

What happens in a typical coaching session?

We meet weekly to review your goals, talk through wins and barriers from the week, and go over any new labs, medications, or symptoms. Sessions are personalized — there's no fixed script, because your plan is built around your specific health picture.

Is nurse health coaching covered by insurance?

I do not accept insurance. Nurse coaching is typically a self-pay, membership-style service and is not billed through insurance, similar to most health and wellness coaching.

Can I do coaching virtually if I'm outside your immediate area?

Yes — coaching is offered virtually, so you can work with me from anywhere in Kentucky and Colorado.

How is coaching different from your health advocacy services?

Advocacy is for solving an active healthcare problem — untangling multiple specialists, an insurance denial, or getting a second opinion. Coaching is ongoing, whole-body support for your long-term health. Many clients use both together.
